First Tone

Every time I put a new roll of film in my Minolta I always plot what to do with the first shot. One day it came to my mind to ask Tone to do some kind of air. At first I hoped I got it lined up so you could see where he was airing from around where the burn line is. I told him we had only one try, but I knew he had it cuz I’ve seen him do this a million times. When I got the film back I was pretty hyped on how this came out.  As always, another reason why I love film and the uncertainty of it. Thanks Tone!

Hamlin Lake Weekend.

A weekend of fun at my dads cottage on Hamlin Lake. These photos were shot with my Stylus using the psychadelic blues film. I was really hyped to try the film at night, and I like how they came out. A few were shot by Donald. Great times, can't wait to go back! Great group of guys.

Wigs 4th Birthday.

This past Sunday we celebrated The Wig's fourth birthday, as most people know it wasn't supposed to make it this far. I'm wondering if it will ever go?or will they build stupid looking unaffordable condos? Either way we had to celebrate. We got some gear from REAL, Spitfire, Krooked, and Refuge to give out. The decision was to have the first ever one-minute run contest. It worked out pretty well and we had about twenty-five competitors. Jerry from WUB even got us custom CP work vests! It was just like most summer weekends at the park a lot of good homies, meeting new people, grilling, and relaxing. Hopefully somehow it makes it to five!

Easily one of my favorite moments of the day below, this kid was riding his bike around and he stopped for a sec. Johnny didn't even ask but ollied over his bike while the kid was still on it. I wasn't ready to get a photo because it happened so quick. I asked him if Johnny could try it again. Two tries later we got it. Everyone was hyped!

After the run contest Derrick made a shark board with a custom graphic featuring his son Oliver, and he wanted to see a best trick using the board. Joey, and JZ got down with the board, and later on Joey got iced.

As always the OG Larry had to come through to hype event up.

Super fun day! Above are the winners of the contest Jeremy Cooper, Johnny Cleary, and Justin Zimmerman. As well as the band “native sun” that closed it out for us. Thanks again to everyone for showing up, great times!

Amir in the spring.

I feel like I don't use my digital camera much anymore, so here is a photo of Amir I took in the spring.

Random Roll.

A few random photos from a roll of film I shot when it was cold out that I forgot about.

Never Give Up.

A little while ago I was told about a spot by my very nice friend Jeff. When I first saw it I knew we needed to add a bit of cement to make it better. Pat and I decided to go one weeknight a few days before the weekend so we could cement it and then give it a few days to cure. Everything went super well we got the cement mixed, it took less time then we thought, and even less cement. Once we were finalizing it someone came on the loudspeaker at the business next door and yelled “we see you,” “get the fuck off the property,” and “we have called the cops.” We finished the last touches but knew they were probably going to destroy it anyway. Once the weekend hit we still planned to skate it. We brought signs and anything that we could use to skate it even if they messed it up. When we got there we learned they did destroy it. However we wouldn’t give up, they still left the gate wide open so we duct taped two signs to it and did our best to skate it. It wasn’t easy but we had the neighbors filming us and they were hyped to see what we were doing. Look for the pivot to fakie photo in Skate Jawn’s eight year anniversary issue out now, and the footage in a new Coda skateboards project releasing soon. NEVER GIVE UP.

Go Skateboarding Day 2018

gsd2018-6WEB.jpg

June 21st is the longest day of the year, it is also go skateboarding day. I knew this one was going to be very special because we collaborated with Pluskateboarding, NikeSB, and REAL Skateboards to throw a event at the wig. There were free tacos provided by Nike, and REAL was giving our friend Dan Mancina, who recently went blind, a board with his name on it in braille. We had an extremely good turnout I am pretty sure it was the most people we've ever had at the wig since we built it. Here is a few photos from throughout the day.

Psychadelic Blues Portraits

I shot a couple rolls of Dustin Adams "Psychadelic Blues" film. He takes rolls of 35mm Kodak film and exposes it to light. This film is his #2, which has a red/orange fade from the top and green from the bottom of the negative. Go to his store and www.dustinadamsphoto.com to purchase, or check him on Instagram for more. Here are a few portraits I shot with my stylus. This is another reason why I love shooting film. More to come...

NY Color Film

A roll of Portra 400 from my NY trip a little over a month ago. First roll in my new Stylus after my old one broke. Peace.
